
This is a very simple crochet coaster pattern that an experienced crocheter could probably do by just looking at my pictures! However it is also a nice simple project for beginner crocheters and useful as well! You can also use up scraps and make rainbow coasters as well, nice for summer and small gifts.

MATERIALS
DK/8 ply cotton such as Paintbox in two or more contrasting colours 1-2 50 g balls
3.00 – 3-5 mm crochet hook
Fabric and iron interfacing if required, sewing machine or needle and cotton
ABBREVIATIONS US TERMS
st = stitch
ch= chain
sc= single crochet
dc= double crochet
ss = slip stitch

If you have time and energy I would also cut a non-slip fabric in circles, adding a 1-2cm seam allowance.

Then cut iron on interfacing into circles the same size as crochet circles

INSTRUCTIONS
Round 1: Make a magic circle, 16 dc into circle, ss into first dc and pull circle tightly, knot yarn and sew in end very tightly

Round 2: Dc 2 into each dc of previous round, ss to close round (32 dc)
Round 3: Next ch 2, dc 1 into next stitch, 2dc into next stitch repeat until end ss to close round (48 dc)
Round 4: Ch 1, sc into same stitch, sk1, 2ch, sc into next stich, repeat sk1, 2ch, sc till end, ss into first sc to join (fasten off only if changing colours)
Round 5: Lastly, ch 2, 2dc into first 2ch space , then 3dc in each 2ch space till end, ss to join round
Optional round sc into the back loop of each stitch, fasten off and weave in ends
