Belinda’s granny square crop top pattern

I have decided to create this crop top pattern due to popular demand after a lovely young lady wore a granny square outfit I made on a well known TV show in Australia (which can’t be mentioned here). It’s an easy make and if you have a daughter, nieces or friends or you’re young yourself, you might like it.

SKILL LEVEL: Upper beginner

In this pattern I assume you know how to make a granny square and are capable of some basic sewing squares together and know the half double crochet and double crochet stitches.

However as always with granny squares, sewing the ends in calls for some patience. There are many patterns for granny square shorts on YouTube if you would like to make the whole set! The top can be worn with the drawstring at the front or back, but I would recommend the back.

YARN
This pattern uses 8 ply/DK acrylic, any brand can be used and I encourage you to use up scraps depending on your colour choices. You will need 1-2 x 100g balls of the six square colours and 3-4 x 100g balls of the main colour.

You will also need a 3.5mm crochet hook, a tapestry needle, measuring tape and scissors.
